Over the last decade, yoga has given me the tools to awaken to more joy, connection and clarity and I am passionate about providing a space for others to do the same.

When I first started practising yoga, almost a decade ago, I was in a very different place in my life. I had struggled with anxiety and depression for as long as I could remember. While I was by no means instantly cured, those first few classes certainly helped bring me a sense of calm and grounding. As I began practising more regularly, I noticed my body getting stronger - that was what I thought yoga was about. I also noticed my mind becoming less frantic and more concentrated, at least for those 60 minutes on the mat - this is what I didn’t realise yoga was about!

I wanted to better understand what I could see the practice was giving me. Having studied Philosophy at University, delving into yoga philosophy felt like a natural next step, and I loved (and still love) learning about the roots, methods and schools of yoga. Undertaking my 200 hour teacher training was a transformative experience, and only made me more passionate about the practice and sharing it with others.

In my classes, I aim to create a space where everyone can feel comfortable. When I first started practising, I was not ‘good’ at yoga; my muscles were stiff and tight, and I could barely lift my arms over my head. I don’t want my students to feel that they need their asana (poses) to look a certain way for them to take part in my classes. Moreover, part of the beauty of asana is its ability to lead us towards balance; what we need fluctuates on a daily basis, so there will always be lots of options to scale up or scale down.

I always try and convey the deeper aspects of the practice; while this might sound serious, I am also a firm believer that a playful approach to practising better helps us let go and connect to ourselves fully. You can expect space for stillness, moments of challenge and hopefully a little laughter.

Anna is a truly wonderful teacher. She cares so deeply about the practice and it really shows in her classes. As someone who prefers the more dynamic practices, I love that she makes me think differently and opens my mind to everything that yoga can bring you. Her classes are thoughtful and thought provoking, stretching both my body and my mind.’
